Reimagined retro nostalgia, our favourite characters have been given more personality, warmth, colour, familiarity to enhance user experiences.

为了在QQ20周年掀起用户的怀旧热潮，我们重新构想了QQ的经典头像。

For the QQ’s 20th anniversary, the users will get a blast from the past. We have reimagined the classical QQ Avatars. 

通过对这些角色的回望，人们将对过去产生怀旧之情，这些角色也能引发对美好记忆的怀念。

People will look back at the avatars and get that nostalgic feeling for the past, a longing that triggers good memories.

重塑角色时融入经典漫画的风格在《蜘蛛侠：平行宇宙》《爱，死亡和机器人》等影视剧之后，变得再次流行。基于第一个原始人像插图，结合用户类型的特点，我们得以重新构想角色的全身以及他们现在的容貌，并将他们放在一个场景里。其中有些是运动型，有些比较随意，有些看起来是生意人，有些是有趣的、俏皮的、叛逆的、酷酷的，有些是性感的，有些甚至是超现实的，虚构的， 但他们共同创造了功能广泛的，独一无二的QQ世界。

Recreating the avatars in a classic comics book style which is getting popular and trendy this days again after series tv show and movies like “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse “ and “ Love, Death & Robots” Based on the first original portrait illustration and a combination of the characteristic of users types we were able to reimagine the full body characters, and how would they look in present days. And put them together in one scene. Some of them are sport type of personality some are more casual some are business looking some fun and playful rebellious and cool other sexy and some even surreal and more fictionally. But all together they make the vastly versatile and unique world of QQ.

The original avatars profile pictures are many. We choose the most popular and frequently pictures used by the user to recreate them. 

QQ 头像的永恒魅力向我们展示了，如果这些复古人物是现在的千禧一代，他们看起来会是什么样子。而每一次现代化的改新都仍然保留人物的独有特征以及内在个性。

The timeless appeal of QQ messenger avatars shows how these retro characters would look like if they were modern-day millennials. Each modern makeover still keeps each character signature style and personality in mind.

基于复古头像，我们创造一个新的，有全身的，具有漫画风格的人物角色，并用一个简短的视频来呈现他们。这些2D人物以新鲜的外观和鲜艳的色彩位于3D空间之中，但仍然保持复古的形象。制作这个视频是为了纪念已经是用户生活一部分的头像的存在，激起用户的怀旧情绪，追忆过去的美好时光。视频中，角色们正在进行类似于QQ群的聊天，他们在讨论组织庆祝QQ20周年的party。

Based upon the retro avatars we have created a new image, full body, comic style avatars and we are presenting them in a short video. The 2D characters have been situated in a 3D space. With a fresh look and vibrant colours, but sticking to the retro image. The video was made to celebrate the existence of these avatars that were Part of our users’ lives, to give them the positive feeling of nostalgia, Celebrate the time passed. Look back in time and feel good. In the video, characters are having a conversation like in the QQ chat group, they are talking about organising a party for the 20th anniversary.

背景音乐是每个视频的重要组成部分，它能引起观者的情感以及情绪反应。但如果是用一般的库存音乐， 在同步计时以匹配视频长度的问题上，难以有一个好的开始与结束。同时，其他人也许会购买相同的音乐并用在他们的项目中，如此就降低了视频的真实性。所以我们决定花点时间为它制作一个自定义的原创音乐。我们使用专业的音乐制作软件如“Korg Gadget”，创造了一种类似于用绝妙的鼓点和古老的街机游戏合成的富有动感的旋律。

The background music is always an important part of every video project, it gives a feeling and an emotional response to a viewer. But with stock music usually, there's a problem synchronizing the timing to match the video length, hard to make a good start and good ending. Also, someone else may buy the same music and use it for their project and that makes the video less authentic. So we decided to take some time and to make a custom original music for the video. Using professional music making software like “Korg Gadget” to create a dynamical vibe and action like mood with groovy drums and old arcade games synthesized melodies.
